This award recognizes Projects that have demonstrated outstanding commitment to sustainable practices, environmental stewardship and outstanding achievements in promoting “green hospital”. The nominees of this award are projects that have implemented innovative measures to reduce their environmental impact, such as:
reducing energy consumption, or significant use of renewable energy.
reducing environmental impacts including air pollution and water footprint.
using eco-friendly materials.
promoting, developing, and demonstrating the practice of medicine and care in a sustainable manner;
collaborating across architectural design and hospital planning to realize a green and healthy hospital environment.
The award also recognizes projects that have demonstrated a long-term vision for sustainability and are actively working towards achieving sustainable healthcare practices.
Winning hospitals will be recognized
• During the opening ceremony of Africa Health ExCon 2024. • Two individuals from the winning project in each category will receive: • A Reward of 3000 $ • Complimentary registration to Africa Health ExCon 2024 • Round-trip flights to attend Africa Health ExCon 2024. • Free accommodation during the event
Eligibility and entry rules
(public, private or NGOs or any other type of hospital) are eligible to apply for caring like family award
All information including the supporting documents must be submitted in English
Nominees for this award must be recent projects (project that starts at least in 2020 not before that).
All entries need the endorsement of the organization’s CEO, president or hospital director. Download the template here.

Entries must be submitted through Caring Like Family Award – Africa online submission platform.
All Entries must be in English, Abbreviations and acronyms must be defined
Submitters can upload up to 4 relevant documents in PDF and word file format. Maximum upload file size is 32 MB
Links to videos may also be submitted as supporting information.
Judging process
Caring Like Family Award – Africa nominees will be assessed by a panel of experienced global healthcare leaders “Jury members”, they will use their expertise and knowledge of the healthcare industry to score each entry on its merits, using the following criteria:
Projects should be creative and innovative and designed to meet a specific need
The project must be able to provide evidence of its impact with a focus on quality, safety, efficiency and sustainability
The vision of the project should be summarized clearly and succinctly.
Terms and Conditions:
• The target audience is project teams working within hospitals in Africa Except Saudi German Hospital.
• Saudi German Hospital Staff are not allowed to apply in Caring Like Family Award- Africa.
• Nominations are made by the hospital management team, and individual nomination forms will not be accepted.
• Applications are submitted electronically through the award website
•. Applications must be submitted in English Language.
• Nominations can be saved in "draft" form for editing before submission, and only nomination forms marked "submitted" will be considered.
• The account user is the sole point of contact for all correspondence related to the review and is responsible for sharing candidate information with all evaluators.
• After the nomination deadline, no other nomination forms will be automatically accepted.
• All nomination forms are sorted based on compliance with the required documents for the award application.
• Nomination forms meeting the requirements are evaluated by the technical committees as the first stage of evaluation.
• Nomination forms meeting the requirements are evaluated by the judging panel as the second stage of evaluation.
• To ensure the credibility of the evaluation, an electronic scoring system is used by the technical committees and judging panel without knowledge of the nominees' identities.
• All decisions of the judging panel regarding the winners are final.
